Car thieves at large - keep your valuables out of sight
Rochdale police say most car thieves are opportunistic, which means there are simple steps you can take to greatly reduce the chances of having your vehicle targeted.
Park in secure and well-lit areas wherever possible.
Before leaving your car, close all windows, remove all valuables, especially sat navs and their mounting cradles.
If you must leave valuables inside, make sure you lock them in your boot out of sight.
Do not leave car keys or any other valuables on view in your home, make sure they are kept away from doors or windows to prevent hook and cane thefts.
Many cars are difficult to steal without the keys. Criminals now break-in to houses to obtain them. Keep your keys somewhere safe and out of sight.
