RBH create mural to celebrate mutual title

Date published: 12 August 2013

Employees at Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) were set the task of creating a piece of artwork to celebrate them becoming a true mutual.

Not knowing what to expect, all employees were split up into groups with just a blank canvas and an outline to copy from.

The idea was that each group would be in charge of a certain part of the mural and in order to match up scales and colours, they would have to co-operate with other everyone else.

All the canvases were joined together at the end with the finished mural unveiled to the employees.

A spokeswoman for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing said: “When everyone contributes, you can create great things.

“Everyone was astonished by the end result because they did not know what was going to happen.

“The idea is that the mural shows all the great things about Rochdale.”

RBH is the first social housing mutual to be co-owned by both tenant and employee members, and is the largest mutual social housing organisation in the country.
