MP invites people to debate over cake

Date published: 09 August 2013

Rochdale’s MP, Simon Danczuk, is inviting local people to join him in regular political debate sessions over cake and coffee.

Mr Danczuk said that he wanted to give constituents the opportunity to come and debate with him about local, national and international issues they feel strongly about.

“I get a lot of emails and letters about all manner of issues and I want people to feel they can come and debate with me face to face,” he said. “I know there is no shortage of people with passionate views out there and it’s important that they inform my thinking so I can represent people better in Parliament.”

He added that he was looking to set up regular ‘cake and debate’ sessions on Friday afternoons and wanted to get a good range of people from across the constituency involved.

“I get approached by pressure groups a lot but I’m more interested in the views of the general public,” he said.

If anyone would like to take part in a debate at Simon Danczuk’s constituency office in Rochdale on Friday afternoons, please get in touch with shah.ali@parliament.uk for more details.
