Organ donor campaign in memory of Lizzie Andrews

Date published: 07 August 2013

A campaign to get an extra 10,000 signatures on the organ donor register in memory of 14-year-old Lizzie Andrews, is being supported by students from Lizzie's school, Matthew Moss.

Lizzie died on 13 July this year after battling cystic fibrosis. Lizzie, who was waiting for a lung transplant, was a passionate supporter of organ donation and it was her dream to get 10,000 more people signed up to the organ donor register.

Matthew Moss pupil Vickie Bromfield (15), along with her friends, is determined to help Lizzie’s family reach the target.

Vickie, whose dad Ryan Bromfield works at Matthew Moss, said: “We were really moved by what happened to Lizzie and thought she was a really brave girl. We just wanted to do everything we could to raise awareness of this important issue.”

Rachel Andrews, Lizzie’s mother, said: “Organ donation is something Lizzie felt very strongly about so we’re really pleased to have this support. We are planning events to raise money for organ donation and the cystic fibrosis trust. We have set up the facebook page RIP Lizzie Andrews, so people can find out more there.”
