Council sickness absence levels increase

Sickness absence levels at Rochdale Borough Council have increased from 8.5 days per full time equivalent (FTE) in the year 2011/12 to 9.3 days per FTE.
Long term absence figures for 2011/12 were 5.5 days of the 8.5, representing 64.7% of total absences. For 2012/13 the level was 5.8 days of the 9.3, representing 62.6%.
A spokesperson for Rochdale Council said: “The Council is committed to improving attendance and managing all health related absences. We will continue to support our staff in their return to work, to ensure that the number of days lost to health related absences is kept to a minimum. We look forward to returning to a downward trend.”
