Parcel delivery scam
Date published: 31 July 2013
Police in Heywood are warning residents to beware of a parcel delivery scam.
Accounts are set up at an address and parcels are delivered without the occupants knowledge.
A call is then made to the occupants informing them the parcels are being delivered by mistake and will be collected later.
The parcles are then collected by a third party and the occupants remain unaware they have been the victims of a scam until they receive an invoice for the goods through the post.
Police are asking residents to watch out for a Black African male, approx 30 years old, 5'6 - 5'7 tall, average build, speaking clear English with no apparent accent, wearing a white T-short and yellow Hi-Viz waistcoat. He has been observed getting into a dark blue Ford Focus VRM, registration number NG05 DHZ.
A police spokesman said: "If you see this male, or have any calls informing you of parcels being delivered by mistake or any other information that relates to this scam, then please contact us on our non emergency number, 101.
