Littleborough lads take on The Way of the Roses cycle route

Date published: 31 July 2013

Eight local lads took on the challenge of the Way of the Roses cycle in order to raise money for Kelly Walsh.

Kelly has been diagnosed with cancer and the community has got together to raise money to pay for her and her children go away on a special holiday to Disneyland Paris.

Adam Browne, James Muir, Ben Porter, Jordan Turner, Steven Irvine, Matthew Kent, Gareth Huish, and Ste Hyland, from Littleborough, cycled the 170 mile route between Morecambe and Bridlington.

The tough route passes through the historic cities of York and Lancaster, and lesser known gems such as Settle, Pateley Bridge and Ripon.

The lads took on the difficult terrain, encountering steep hills, and enduring the heat and tyre punctures.

They were helped by Clint Lord who travelled with them with much needed supplies and helped them by encouraging them all the way.

Seeleys Bathrooms of Rochdale provided the team with a van to use as a support vehicle.
