Josh Townsend in Wardle High School's production of Grease
Josh Townsend has just been taken on by David Johnson, arguably Britain’s most successful independent acting tutor, with many famous actors and actresses having passed through his door.
David Johnson tutored successful actor Alan Halsall, who has been crowned ‘Best Male Soap Actor’ at the 2013 British Soap Awards for his role as Tyrone on Coronation Street.
Josh will have his details submitted to Spotlight; a unique directory which features the best child actors.
David approached Josh and upon discovering he didn’t current have an agent suggested Scream Management. Scream contacted Josh and asked him to attend one of their workshops. The workshop forms the process of assessment which ascertains the suitability of the child to be accepted to the agency. After a two hour session where Josh undertook a variety of tasks including improvisation, script reading, character, accents and singing he was offered an immediate place.
Once Josh has attended a photo shoot on the 7 August, he will have his details submitted to Spotlight - the industry's casting bible. Spotlight is a unique directory which features the best child actors from leading theatre schools and agencies and is distributed free of charge to all casting professionals in the UK and worldwide.
Josh, a Year 9 pupil at Wardle High School, has recently sat his GCSE in Performing Arts, despite only being 13.
He has been acting since January 2010 and has always enjoyed performing on stage. He currently attends the Rossendale Dance and Drama Centre, as well as being a member of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art where he sits exams every six months in drama, verse and pose.
