Date published: 24 July 2013
Plans are being finalised for the commemorations of the 2014 - 2018 WW1 Centenary; it will be not be in celebration but rather in solemn reflection and remembrance of all those who have died and have served in our Armed Forces since the start of the Great War.
Rochdale Council, will commemorate the centenary by with a new memorial - Veterans and Forgotten Wars Memorial - in all townships.
A spekesperson said: "This will then fully complete all our Memorial Gardens and wholly acknowledges/honours all parts played by all in our Armed Forces, and by all who have served, even in Britain’s so called small/forgotten/dirty wars."
