Beware of bogus officials
Date published: 23 July 2013
Police are warning residents to be alert to 'bogus' officials following two reported incidents in Heywood last week.
In the first incident, a male caller to a house claimed to be from an electricity company and was there to change the electricity meter and to check the sockets. The householder refused to allow the man into the house. He was driving a small white van.
In the second incident, a male and female claimed to be from the medical centre assessing medication.
A police spokesman said: "Always ask for ID and ring the company that they said they are from.
"If you suspect this person may be bogus, you can report this to police on 101."
