Apprenticeships campaign

Date published: 19 July 2013

Next week sees the launch of a campaign to highlight how apprenticeships can be the key to rewarding careers in a range of sectors.

As young people wait nervously for their exam results, a partnership of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the National Apprenticeship Service and New Economy has teamed up with Key 103 to promote the benefits of apprenticeships.

The Key 103 campaign bus will be in Rochdale Town Hall car park on 30 July between 11.30am and 4.30pm to give young people information about becoming an apprentice.

Delphine Greenhalgh, Rochdale President of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said: "There are lots of talented young people in Rochdale, but many are finding it hard to get work because the jobs market is so difficult at the moment.

"Apprenticeships are an excellent way to get a foot on the career ladder, so I hope our young people will use this opportunity to find out more about becoming an apprentice."

Sue Price, Divisional Director for the National Apprenticeship Service in the North, said: "The concept behind the bus is simply to get out and target young people in Greater Manchester and provide information and advice on apprenticeships so that they can make a more informed decision about their future.

"We also have lots of live apprenticeship job vacancies available in Greater Manchester so we can start to register and match-up youngsters with local employers - direct from the bus."
