Man accused of killing Lee Rigby attacked in prison
Date published: 18 July 2013
Michael Adebolajo, one of the men accused of murdering Fusilier Lee Rigby, has been attacked in prison.
Adebolajo, 28, of Romford in Essex, was set upon at HMP Belmarsh in south east London yesterday.
It is understood he lost two front teeth in the alleged attack.
The Prison Service would not comment on reports that he had been "targeted" by prison officers.
A spokeswoman said: "The police are investing an incident that took place at HMP Belmarsh.
"It would be inappropriate to comment while the investigation was ongoing."
The Old Bailey trial of Adebolajo, 28, and co-accused, Michael Adebowale, 22, from Greenwich, south-east London, has been set for 18 November.
Adebolajo is also accused of the attempted murder of two police officers and possession of a firearm with intent to cause others to believe that violence would be used.
