Frank Smith coast-to-coast bike ride

Date published: 17 July 2013

On Saturday 6 July Frank Smith, from Rochdale, took part in a charity bike ride to raise money for Springhill Hospice.

He decided to do a charity bike ride on the ‘Way of the Roses’ cycle route from Morecambe to Bridlington 170 miles in one day as it is 10 years since Frank and his wife experienced personal tragedy.

Mr Smith said: “Ten years ago,  my wife and I had to witness both of our mothers pass away. I wanted to do something for Springhill Hospice to thank them for the way they helped us deal with it and the way they treated them.”

“I hope they use the money for their patients in the best possible way.”

“I was the only person that did the full route, although I was joined by my friend Alex Price for the last 61 miles. This definitely helped at the end.”

At the moment, Frank has raised over £500 but with donations still coming in to his Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/helenandedith he hopes the final total will be a lot higher.
