Tree to be replaced

Date published: 16 July 2013

The owner of the lingerie store in Rochdale town centre is happy a tree the Council had cut down outside her store is to be replaced.

It is understood the Council removed the tree as it was diseased, however, instead of planting a replacement, the Council simply tarmaced over the space outside Chantilly on Cheetham Street.

Marjorie Thompson,  who is owner of Chantilly, said: “I was initially unhappy that the area where the tree was had been tarmaced over, it’s supposed to be a conservation area.

“However, the Council has since responded to my complaint and said they couldn’t plant another tree until November. The new tree will be planted then.”
