Over thirty senior citizens from the Roman Catholic parishes of Holy Family, St John's and St Gabriel's were served up a summer treat of afternoon tea and entertainment last Thursday. The Creators Group entertained their guests with bingo, a team quiz and a variety of music and singing.
Rewards trips took place on Wednesday with every child who has shown good behaviour during the school year involved. Coaches set off to Alton Towers, Chester Zoo, Blackpool and Water World. Congratulations to every child who was allowed to go – it is because of your own hard work and exemplary behaviour.
Year 7 marked the end of their first year at St Cuthbert’s with Mass celebrated by Fr Martin Collins last Friday in the hall. It was a joyful and prayerful occasion. Our end of year liturgies with all other year groups have also taken place, led by pupils.
The theme of the liturgies was ‘Celebrating Change’, with prayers and scripture readings chosen specially for the theme. During the liturgies, pupils offered up to God all their hopes and fears for the coming year.
Year 11 GCSE results are available for collection by students on Thursday 22 August from 9.00am. If you are unable to collect your own results, some-one can collect them on your behalf with a letter of authority and proof of identification. Alternatively an SAE can be left at reception for results to be posted home.
Year 10 GCSE results may also be collected by students from 11.00am; if not collected these will be given out to students in September.
This week’s theme was ‘Saying Thank You to God’. Our Enterprise capability was RESEARCH & ANALYSIS and this half-term’s focus for Year 7 is REFLECTION AND EVALUATION.
Our Saint of the Week was Saint John Plessington, a local saint to us here in the North West. St John Plessington risked his life for his faith but still forgave those who had brought about his death through lies and deceit. Students were asked to reflect on what risks we are prepared to take for the things we believe in and how willing we are to forgive those who hurt us.
We would like to wish every member of our whole school community a very happy and restful summer holiday. Please keep safe and come back to us, rejuvenated, on Wednesday 4 September at 8.20am. God Bless.
