Milkman devastated by theft of milk float
Date published: 16 July 2013
Milkman Damien Intas has been left “absolutely devastated” after his milk van was stolen from Market Street in Whitworth on Saturday 13 July.
Police believe the van was stolen between 13:25 and 13:30 when Damien left the van to take some medication for nerve pain in his face.
Damien left the van for approximately 5-10 minutes to get some water for his tablets and within that time the van was stolen.
Damien said: “If anyone has any compassion then they would report it or just give me the stuff back.”
At the time of the theft the van contained a cheque for £1,500, £70 worth of eggs, information of money owed to Damien, milk books and personal letters and belongings.
Damien added: “I have lost everything. The van was my means of living. I’ve had to borrow a van for the time being as I can't just go out and buy a new one.”
The van is a Ford Transit with a 52 plate and is described as having a flat back with fold up sides and a fibre class roof.
Damien suffered a similar crime a few weeks back with another van of his being stolen.
He said: “The first crime has been dealt with and the person was identified; for this to happen 4-5 weeks after the other is heart breaking.”
Lancashire police are currently looking into the theft and said: “We are currently looking into the matter and anyone with any information should call 101.”
Damien added: “It’s not just taking a van. It has taken my livelihood.”
