Taster Days - life as a high school student
Date published: 15 July 2013
Primary School pupils in Year 5 from Heywood and Middleton enjoyed 3 weeks of Taster Days at Siddal Moor Sports College.
Primary school pupils were accompanied by staff from their school to Siddal Moor and enjoyed taking part in lots of different activities which included:
- Food Technology, where students baked cupcakes
- Technology where they made rockets, that they then launched
- First Aid included how to deal with a cut, burn and basic resuscitation
- Drama
- Physical Education
- French
Each Primary school attended on 2 specific days over a three week period and were treated to a typical day in the life of a high school student and even sampled the school dinners.
Feedback from the Year 5 students was very positive and the staff said that the children had a really wonderful time at Siddal Moor.
The event organised by Mel Fawcett the Schools Primary Links Co-Ordinator was a huge success and he would like to thank all the schools who took part and a big thank to all the teachers and staff at Siddal Moor who helped out over the 3 week period.
