Littleborough Farmer's Market

Date published: 14 July 2013

Peel Street, Littleborough was transformed today (Sunday 14 July) to become home to Littleborough Farmer's Market.

The market, which is held every second Sunday of the month, displayed local produce from local businesses and encouraged people to shop locally.

Steve Lister, organiser and Chairman of LEAF (Littleborough Events and Association Forum) said: “We get people to come out and we attract people to Littleborough.”

Held from 10am-3pm, the event also had a craft fair in the Littleborough Conservative Club.

Stalls included local butchers and fishmongers as well as homemade cupcakes and cheese and crackers.

Steve added: “We have been running the markets for two and a half years and always get a good turnout.

"Some of our stall holders have been here no matter what the weather and today is certainly the best day for it.”

Councillor Karen Danczuk, who cycled to the market with husband, Rochdale MP, Simon Danczuk and their boys said she enjoyed the market and had got some "great buys".

Having bought "some tasty scallops and smoked mackerel", from Dan's Fresh Fish, she said she was "really looking forward to having them".

The next market on Peel Street will be held on Sunday 11 August.
