Increase in street drinking and anti-social behaviour
Date published: 12 July 2013
Rochdale Police have noted a significant increase in street drinking and anti-social behaviour along the canal between Oldham Road and Crawford Street during the warm weather.
Police have issued a reminder that no alcohol is allowed to be consumed in a public place throughout the Borough of Rochdale.
A police spokesman said: "Anyone drinking alcohol who may cause anti-social behaviour will be issued with a 'Direction to Leave', which excludes them from an area marked out for up to 48 hours.
"Anyone breaching the 'Direction to Leave' will be liable to arrest."
The Kingsway Police Team will be increasing patrols in the area throughout the summer.
