Meanwood School children help to make local community safer

Date published: 12 July 2013

Children from Meanwood School Year 6 helped the police distribute leaflets to houses close to the school, requesting residents' support to keep the school premises free from theft and vandalism during the summer break.

PCSO Alan Hall said: "Historically during the summer holidays schools have been at risk of burglary and criminal damage. This has a great financial impact on the school with money that could be better spent on the children being used to pay for stolen or damaged equipment."

Residents are asked to keep local schools in mind when going to and from home and to report any suspicious behaviour to the police.

PCSO Hall added: "Hopefully with this “'schoolwatch' happening throughout the holidays, everyone can contribute to making the local areas and schools a bit more safe and secure."

If you have any information about crime in your community please call the local neighbourhood policing team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
