Date published: 12 July 2013
A charity car wash held at The Wash hand car wash and valeting on Bishop Road, Rochdale has raised £1,230 to help hospitals in Syria.
A group of men from Rochdale are hoping to buy ambulances with the money raised and drive them to Syria. The group then plan to leave the ambulances at hospitals in Syria for their use.
Held on Sunday 7 July, the car wash lasted all day and involved family and friends pulling together to raise the funds.
The Wash owner Tahir Shah said: “This was a charity effort for them and everyone pulled their weight.”
The trip is planned to start after the festival of Eid and will involve driving over 3,000 miles.
Tahir added: “The day went really well and £1,230 is a lot of money.”
