Drummer Lee Rigby Procession

Bolton Street, Bury fell silent today (Thursday 11 July) as the body of solider Drummer Lee Rigby was escorted to Bury Parish Church.
A parade of drummers escorted his body at 4:15pm to the church where a private service will be held for his family tomorrow (Friday 12 July).
Lee's wife Rebecca carried their son Jack, while his mother Lyn and stepfather Jack held each other as his coffin was carried by pall bearers.
People of all ages from babies in prams to the elderly lined the streets of Bury town centre to pay their respects.
One police officer said: “We expect a few hundred people here today.” People from all service areas attended the procession including local fire and police officers who lined the streets.
Onlookers clapped as the funeral procession made its way to the church.
One man spent the time before the procession explaining to his young son about the importance of today. He said: “You should stand here and pay your respects. You don’t know what it’s for but it’s important.”
The funeral of Drummer Lee Rigby will be held tomorrow with a private burial taking place at Middleton cemetery.
