Girl attacked by dog
Date published: 11 July 2013
Emily Murphy Connell was attacked by a friend's dog last night (Wednesday 10 July) and left needing several stitches to a gaping wound in her face.
Emily was rushed to the Rochdale Urgent Care Centre by mum Vicki Murphy and transferred to North Manchester General Hospital where doctors stitched her facial wound.
It is understood Emily was holding the dog when another friend arrived with a dog and the dog she was holding attacked her.
Vicki said: "Emily is a very brave girl, and a very lucky girl as it could have been so much worse.
"Staff at North Manchester were fantastic and the doctor has done a fantastic job stitching her up. Emily watched him do it as I squeezed her hand and looked away.
"Today will be a day of cuddles on the sofa in between applying creams and administering antibiotics.
"Never trust a dog, no matter what size."
