EU money wasting condemned

Another money wasting propaganda plan by the EU came under fire from UKIP today.

"This latest piece of costly nonsense - an 'independent' online news outlet - is a disgrace at any time but particularly in these austere times," said Paul Nuttall, the party's deputy leader.

"This is a desperate attempt to ensure the EU is portrayed in a favourable light because the Eurocrats are very conscious that their great European project is falling down around their ears.

"This proposed 'online media on EU affairs' is to cost £2.75 million a year and while the Commission is, of course, claiming that it will be free to publish articles unflattering to itself, I don't believe for a minute that would be the situation," said Mr Nuttall, MEP for the North West.

"The proposed agency has already been labelled a 'Brussels Pravda' and I concur with that description. The people working for it would never publicly criticise those paying their wages.

"This measure under the command of Viviane Reding, a Commission Vice-President in charge of Justice, Rights and Citizenship, is the latest in a line of measures designed to bolster the EU image.

"In this country alone we hand over £53 million a day to Brussels and it must stop, we must quit this undemocratic monolith," said Mr Nuttall.
