Lower Falinge recycling bins not picked up for eight weeks
Date published: 09 July 2013

People are being urged to ‘recycle right’ after Rochdale Borough Council incurred financial penalties as a result of people putting plastic bags in their blue and green bins
Residents of Lower Falinge have complained to the council about their recycling bins not being picked up for eight weeks.
The council has since responded to the complaint from residents: “We started re-cycling in Lower Falinge in 2011. This was initially successful with residents using the recycling bins throughout the estates.
“Unfortunately over the last few months, we have experienced items being put in the wrong bins. This causes our trucks to be turned away from the recycling plant, which could result in the council facing large fines.
“Recycling collections will now take place in Lower Falinge every other Thursday and we are working with the residents and Rochdale Boroughwide Housing to ensure the correct items are put in the correct bins.”
