The hospitality and catering department at Hopwood Hall College has been awarded a silver accolade from the Hospitality Guild in recognition of its good practice and excellence in the delivery of hospitality training and qualifications.
Students and staff were delighted at receiving news of the award, especially as only 15 colleges nationally have received this accreditation.
The department underwent a rigorous assessment day operated by People First and endorsed by the Hospitality Guild. As part of the day the Colleges’ commercial training restaurant, The Cottons, was inspected and graded. The restaurant was assessed by an AA food inspector and in turn was awarded a one star college rosette, under the new AA College Rosette scheme that recognises accredited colleges’ training restaurants.
The catering staff are overjoyed and pleased that all the students and staff’s hard work has been recognised both with the silver accreditation and the AA College Rosette Award.
Sue Hadfield, head of the hospitality and catering department, commented: “These awards demonstrate how determined we are to be the best and is the start of many great things for catering and hospitality at Hopwood Hall College."
