Lyndhurst Residential Home Summer Fayre

Date published: 06 July 2013

Lyndhurst Residential home in Middleton held a summer fayre today (Saturday 6 July) to raise money for to help fund activities for the residents including Christmas parties, birthday entertainment and materials for crafts and games.

Leslie Scott, activities co coordinator for the homes said: “The day is very staff orientated. We are like one big happy family. Residents families usually come also and we try and get the general public to call in.”

The fayre is held every year and includes tombola, tabletop sale, a raffle, cake sale and a barbeque with prizes being donated by resident’s families, staff and local businesses.

The event was officially opened by Mayor Peter Rush who said: “It is always our pleasure to attend and we are pleased to see these summer fayres in Middleton and to see the dignity of care for these elderly people.”

Assistant manager Nicky Prince added: “We usually catch lucky with the weather every year and this year is the
same again. We have only had to hold it inside once in all the years we have done it."

Lyndhurst Residential home is currently home to 33 residents. The staff hope to have raised £500 at the event as the home has no charity or council funding.
