Hundreds enjoy Darnhill Summer Festival

Hundreds of people enjoyed themselves at the tenth Darnhill Summer Festival today (Saturday 6 July), with the weather was perfect for the occasion.

The procession left Argyle Parade at around 12:00pm and the people of Heywood were treated to a variety of colourful sights.They were celebrating 10 fantastic years of festival fun, family arts and entertainment in Darnhill.

There was a variety of events including, creative, dance and music workshops, live music and poetry, sports and circus skills and a variety of traditional games and stalls, which kept families entertained.

The Mayor of Rochdale, Peter Rush said: “Heywood was done proud, it’s great to see such a variety of activities.

“Events such as this wouldn’t be possible without the people of Heywood.”

The organisers, Cartwheel Arts say their aim is to promote social inclusion, cohesion, diversity and regeneration through community participation in vibrant, innovative, high-quality arts projects.
