Wesley Clutterbuck gives the gift of life to others

Date published: 06 July 2013

Wesley Clutterbuck, the young man from Whitworth who died of serious head injuries having been assaulted in Fleece Street, has given the gift of life to others.

Wesley's mother has revealed that part of his liver went to a 20-month-old boy who has had a liver condition from birth. The boy is said to be doing well.

The other half of Wesley's liver went to a 50-year-old woman who was close to dying - she is also said to be doing well.

One of his kidneys went to a 26-year-old woman who had been waiting two years for a transplant. The kidney function is said to be so good so soon after transplant that the woman is going home to her family this week.

Wesley's other kidney and his pancreas have gone to a 50-year-old man and he is doing well.

Sara Whitworth, Wesley's mother, said: "I keep my fingers crossed for all these families and take comfort in the fact Wesley lives on. Selfless to the end my son."
