Rochdale Diversity Awards

Date published: 06 July 2013

The Rochdale Diversity Awards celebrate and promote diversity within Rochdale.

Hosted by KYP and held in Rochdale Town Hall, the 2013 diversity awards united a town looking to promote cohesion and equality.

Mayor Councillor Peter Rush opened the awards ceremony at the start of the evening and said: “This is an absolutely splendid evening and I am proud to be part of diversity coalition. Despite recent bad press everyone has come together for a great night.”

Other distinguished guests at the awards included Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk, Rochdale council leader Colin Lambert, Tony Lloyd the Police and Crime Commissioner for Greater Manchester and Maqsood Ahmad, NHS England: Strategic Clinical Manager and Member of Greater Manchester Police and Crime panel.

During the ceremony ten awards were handed out across a number of categories including diversity in education, diversity in retail and diversity in apprenticeships.

Nominations for the awards started in June with each category being judged by a panel of experts. The awards aim to recognise collective community strengths and positive contributions individuals and/or organisations make towards race equality, inclusion and diversity within the community.
