Rochdale Schools Athletics Competition

Rochdale Schools Athletics Competition  was held at Sportscity in Manchester with all of the secondary schools in Rochdale taking part.

Wardle High School students showed off their true sporting potential with three students winning gold, five students winning silver and five students winning bronze.

The medal winners from the athletics competition were:

  • Charley Godsman Year 7 High Jump 1st place Gold
  • James Chee Year 9 Shot Putt 1st place Gold
  • Luke Young Year 10 High Jump 1st place Gold
  • Beth Roscoe Year 7 200 Metres 2nd place Silver
  • Leeroy Terry Year 8 Javelin 2nd place Silver
  • Zach Tait Year 9 Triple Jump 2nd place Silver
  • Joe Whatmough Year 9 800 Metres 2nd place Silver
  • Fiona Payton Year 10 High Jump 2nd place Silver
  • Owen Longley Year 7 Triple Jump 3rd place Bronze
  • Tayla Mason Year 8 High Jump 3rd place Bronze
  • Emma Whitworth Year 9 Shot Putt 3rd place Bronze
  • Martha Southall Year 9 1500 Metres 3rd place Bronze
  • Callum Dewhirst Year 10 Triple Jump 3rd place Bronze

Steve Wilkinson thoroughly enjoyed taking the students to the big sporting event saying: "It was a brilliant day. The pupils were excellently behaved and a credit to the school!"

As well as being a strong academic school, Wardle encourages all its students to reach their sporting potential and the PE department provides students with the opportunity to expand their extracurricular activities.
