Toddler in serious condition after collision with a car

A 2-year-old boy is in a serious condition following a collison with a Vauxhall Corsa on Hartley Lane, Rochdale.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called to Queensway just before 12.30pm. The boy is currently in a serious condition in hospital. "
Queensway is closed (2.20pm Wednesday 3 July) in both directions between the Edinburgh Way junction and the Daventry Road junction. There is a diversion in operation via Hartley Lane and Daventry Road.
There is also heavy traffic on Manchester Road in Sudden, both ways between the Edinburgh Way junction and Tesco/Bolton Road traffic lights.
The police spokesperson said: “We also expect the road closures to be in place for a while.”
UPDATE 5.20pm
The child remains in a serious condition but is expected to make a full recovery.
