Drummer Lee Rigby
The Rotary Club of Berry, Australia honoured Lee Rigby during their annual festival, with one of the participating bands from Lithgow (Australia) dedicating a number to the honour of Drummer Rigby.
The piece they chose to play consisted of a very solemn and dramatic percussion - appropriate for the honour of a drummer.
Noel Marshall, Chairman of the Celtic Festival Committee of the Rotary Club of Berry, said: "From my vantage point in the centre of the arena, I was stunned by the total silence of the spectators during the performance."
Berry is a small country town (population 2000) about 140Km South of Sydney, Australia. The town has a very active Rotary Club for such a small town. For seven years, the Rotary Club has hosted an annual festival celebrating seven of the Celtic traditions. Attendance is typically 100 - 160 bagpipe players, choirs, musicians, dancers, and typically 3,500 spectators. The proceeds, to date, have been dedicated to setting up a cancer treatment facility, and more recently, to CanAssist, a grass roots style organisation to help families suffering hardship due to cancer.
