James Bennett wins 'Outstanding Academic Award'

James Bennett, 18, from Middleton, won the 'Outstanding Academic Award' and 'Best Student Level 3, Year 2' at the Hopwood Hall College awards. James' tutors commented that he has a fantastic outlook on learning and an outstanding work ethic.

James said: “I am overwhelmed with the awards I have been presented with. I’ve really enjoyed my time at the College and all the things I’ve learnt this year.”

The special awards ceremony celebrated students who had excelled in their studies throughout the year. Student of the year and endeavour awards were also presented at the ceremony.

Terry Morley who is the centre director for Sport and Public Services at the College said: “This is the first of many events at the College for the department. I have been very impressed with the commitment and dedication from the students and with the extra work the staff has put in to make sure the day was such a success for the students.”

The ceremony was part of a busy day for the students. Over 400 of them took part in the sport and public services first official charity event. This was held in held in partnership with the Rotary Club of Rochdale and was in aid of Help for Heroes. The students completed a 5km run and raised over £3,000 in the process.
