Bianca Cappai and Imane El-Haloui - You’re hired!

Date published: 27 June 2013

Bianca Cappai and Imane El-Haloui were the winners of the Hopwood Hall College, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) learner’s ‘You’re Hired!’ competition.

Bianca Cappai, from Rochdale, and Imane El-Haloui, from Shawclough, collected their prizes this week. Each received £20 shopping vouchers.

There were three runners up - Danilson Dos Santos, from Rochdale, Ivanilson Nassana and Zygimantas Buseika also from Rochdale.

Over 60 students took part in a special project to promote job application and interview skills. They completed application forms for jobs of their choice advertised by the College and undertook interviews with members of the Human Resources team to simulate the pressure and experience of a real life job interview.

The students spent three weeks preparing their job application letters, practising relevant language, presentation and social skills, and strategies for explaining personal qualities, academic qualifications and work experience.

Human Resources Advisor, Martyn Hardy said: “The project provided a near authentic job interview experience which was designed to give learners confidence in the transition from study to work. We were impressed with their appearance and attitude, they were extremely professional.”
