Rochdale Big Games returns for 2013

Date published: 26 June 2013

The Rochdale Big Games will be returning for 2013 with a family fun day at Touchstones Rochdale and Broadfield Park on Saturday 29 June from 11am-3pm.

Last year over 5,000 people took part in the Big Games boroughwide during the Olympic celebrations. Link4Life is building on this as part of the London 2012 local legacy to promote local clubs and groups and to get more people more active.

Organised in partnership with the Friends of Broadfield Park it is a day of free activities that include a climbing tower, face painting, Punch & Judy, drumming workshop and sports taster sessions including Crown Green Bowls and orienteering.

Neta Smart from the Friends Group said, "We are looking forward to another superb event and last year's Big Games was really appreciated by all who attended, especially the children. As a small group we would find it hard to put on such an event on our own and there will be lots of things for families to enjoy."

Link4Life's Event Co-ordinator, Donna Livesey said: "The Big Games aims to help people find out more about the wide range of resources on their doorstep and how they can get to use them on a regular basis. We're inviting everyone to come along ready to have fun and try as many activities as possible during the day."

The Rochdale Big Games has a Pirate theme for 2013 and a treasure map trail that starts from Touchstones Rochdale and continues into the park.
