Sponsored Walk raises money for Help for Heroes
Date published: 26 June 2013
Twenty people from Rotary Club of Rochdale East took part in a sponsored walk around Tandle Hills and the Chadderton area - the event raised £1300 for the Help for Heroes charity.
Rotary Club of Rochdale East and Hopwood Hall’s centre director for sport and uniformed public services, Terry Morley also organised a student’s fun run.
More than 300 students from Hopwood Hall College raised over £3,000 for the same charity.
Frank Hauxwell believes the tragedy surrounding Drummer Lee Rigby resulted in more people taking part in both the events: “The sadness around Lee Rigby certainly gave people a boost in raising money for this particular cause.”
He added: “I look forward to future cooperation with Help for Heroes and Hopwood Hall College.”
President Mike Fishwick thanked everyone who took part in both events.
