Healey Foundation Primary School

Date published: 25 June 2013

Reception and Year 5 had excellent weather for their trips out last week, thank you to the parents who supported the difficult transport arrangements for Year 5, unfortunately we have to rely more and more on parent help to try and reduce the costs of trips out of school. Reception had a wonderful time at Smithills Farm and we have some lovely photographs marking the day.

The end of term is approaching fast and we are desperately trying to make sure everything is fitted in.

Next week on Monday (1st) the children will be entertained in the afternoon by the Saline Fiddlers, a large group of string musicians who are doing a tour of the area. The group will be coming to school for lunch, giving an hours performance and then in the evening giving a public performance at The Riverside in Whitworth. We are really honoured to have been chosen for this prestigious performance.

On Tuesday (2nd) it is the Rochdale Transition Day and all Year 6 children who are moving to Rochdale secondary schools will be spending the day at their new schools. The children are expected to make their own way there and back and wear their Healey School Uniform. The children in school here will also be swapping round and spending the morning with their new teacher for next year, it will also be an opportunity for Year 5 to welcome Mrs Ross to Healey ready for her to take over Year 6 in September.

On Wednesday (3rd) Year 1 and 2 are on their trip to Blackpool Zoo, the coach will leave promptly at 9:15 and should return in time for the end of school, traffic permitting. Please make sure that the children have appropriate footwear and if a warm sunny day, sun cream and sun hat. The children need to be in school uniform. A letter with all the details and information you need has gone out Tuesday afternoon, if you have not received this letter please let us know.

On Thursday (4th) we are hoping to hold Sports Day. Reception, Year 1 and 2 in the morning and Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the afternoon. Please keep an eye out for details / information. If the weather is poor we will not hold Sports Day for safety reasons and will try for the following Thursday (11th).

On Friday (5th) the annual school reports will be issued and then the evening is one to let your hair down and celebrate the end of the school year at the PTA Annual Summer BBQ, tickets are on sale for this event which will be licenced and have BBQ, bouncy castle, games and dancing.

Year 6 children have a free ticket, Adults are £3 and children £2 – babies and toddlers are free. Entry is by ticket only, tickets are going fast, and entry on the door on the night is not permitted.

Well done to the children who were presented with the Achievement Cup last Friday.

Reception: Jayden Jones
Year 1: Kyrah Patterson
Year 2: Leah Dolan
Year 3: Thomas Nugent
Year 4: Jordan McMahon
Year 6: Bethany Richards and Shauna Atherton.
The best attendance was Year 5.

Please can we ask that all money owed to school is paid before the end of the school year. If your child has school dinners and you pay weekly, please could you ‘double up’ for the last week and four days and pay £16.65 on Monday 8 July. This will help us enormously. All After School Club and Music invoices should be paid too.
