50 Year 10 art students visited Manchester Metropolitan University on Monday 17 June 2013 to see the degree show at the School of Art & Design. They visited the Fashion, Illustration, Fine Art and Sculpture exhibitions. The students were impeccably behaved and got involved with a number of workshops and installations including embroidery and drawing on a real person. The students said ‘it was helpful and inspiring’. The visit meets assessment objective 2 of the GCSE specification as well as giving students the opportunity to visit a prestigious university.

On Tuesday 2 July we will be welcoming next year’s new starters on Year 6 Induction Day. We will also be hosting a Parents’ Evening for their parents and carers later on in the day. We look forward to meeting our new intake of students and starting them off on their secondary school careers.

On Thursday 4 July we will be hosting an International Day for Year 4 students from some of our local primary schools. During the day, the visiting students will take part in a variety of lessons and activities with an international flavour. We hope they have a fun-filled day!

A group of our Year 8 Gifted and Talented students will be taking part in the Rochdale Gifted and Talented Science and Technology Challenge Day on Thursday 4 July. Good luck to all students involved.
