Matthew Moss staff visit innovative schools in Copenhagen

Date published: 18 June 2013

Two staff from Matthew Moss High School were lucky enough to do some of their own learning during a visit to Copenhagen schools recently.

They were able to visit some innovative schools to learn more about how they deliver Project Based Learning.

The staff were really impressed with some of the spaces we saw; these were flexible to allow learners the choice over their learning environment.

The spaces helped to place the responsibility for learning onto the learners, rather than teachers telling learners what to do every step of the way.

This is one of the biggest aims of Project Based Learning, it is a learning style that is designed to help learners develop the habits they will need for their future lives, those dispositions which local and national industries tell us they would like their employees to have: being proactive, self-directed individuals, who can manage their own projects and think up creative solutions.

Matthew Moss High School staff said: “We have learnt a lot from the experience and hope the learners will benefit from these new ideas.”
