Schools compete for sporting glory

Young people from Greater Manchester are getting the opportunity to show off their sporting talents on Tuesday 9 July as they compete in a Sainsbury’s School Games Festival.
The Greater Manchester Summer Sainsbury’s School Games events are at venues across Greater Manchester as young people compete across a range of sports including Athletics, BMX, Handball and Netball.
Rochdale Schools who have qualified to date:
Tennis Competition
Team 1: Norden Primary School
Team 2: Smithy Bridge School
Netball Competition
Team 1: Crossgates Primary School
Team 2: Healey Primary School
Handball Competition
Middleton Technology
Athletics Competition
Team 1: St Cuthbert's RC
Team 2: Cardinal Langley
The Sainsbury’s School Games is set across four levels and is backed by National Lottery funding from Sport England. It is fully inclusive and will increase the opportunities for young people to take part in sport across the school year.
It is delivered by the Youth Sport Trust and uses the inspiration of London’s Olympics and Paralympics to transform competitive sport in schools and get more people playing sport.
