College IT students now better equipped for the world of work

Date published: 13 June 2013

Hopwood Hall College has College being granted academy status from Microsoft.

The new accreditation means that students enrolling on the level 3 IT course from September 2013 will study for and achieve high level professional Microsoft qualifications which are recognised by the IT industry worldwide. These commercial skills will be gained in addition to their BTEC qualification.

Namaan Mohammed, programme manager at Hopwood Hall College, is thrilled that the College has gained this new status, saying that it will be of great benefit to students who would normally look to gain this kind of qualification when already in the industry. He comments: “The IT students will be getting an extra add-on to their course and will be working with the latest Microsoft technology. They’ll have a Microsoft stamp on their CV when they leave here and that will put them one step ahead of the competition when it comes to moving onto university or entering the IT job market.”

Some of the modules that will be delivered on the course, thanks to the new accreditation, will include: Microsoft Windows 7/8, Enterprise Desktop Administrator, Microsoft Windows Server 2012, Management and Designing and Developing Windows Applications Using the Microsoft.NET Framework.

The skills obtained from these modules are in high demand within the industry.
