Student designs local sports club website

Date published: 09 June 2013

An IT student has been experiencing the world of work by designing a new website for the Rochdale Cricket, Lacrosse & Squash Club.

The site has been designed by Hopwood Hall College IT Systems Support student, Brandon Keating, 17, from Heywood, who studies at the College’s Middleton campus.

Allan Collingwood, President of the Club, explained: “The Club is under new management and as such we decided to launch a new website to showcase the facilities we have on offer.”

Brandon said: “Being able to work on a real brief has enabled me to improve my web design skills and has given me valuable work experience. I got to be creative in my designs but I also learnt how to work to deadlines and I’m now more confident when dealing with clients too.”

Allan added: “The project was completed in a professional manner and within specific deadlines. I would definitely recommend to other businesses to take on students on work experience and we are keen to work with the College to offer more work placements in the future.”

As a thank you for all their hard work and support, the Club has offered Brandon and his tutor, Namaan Mohammed, a complimentary social membership for the year.
