Congratulations to Ben Hunt, Year 8, who is the national winner of the ‘I Am Learning’ online challenge. ‘I Am Learning’ is an online homework and revision tool – pupils have to put in a set number of hours work before they are rewarded with online games – Ben not only put in many hours work, he also beat the thousands of competitors around the country who were hot on his tail to win a games console. Congratulations also to Horacio De Assuncao who came third nationally in the competition – Horacio won £100 worth of computer games. Well done to Ben and Horacio! We are very proud of you!

GCSE exams are now well under way. Students should go to their normal classrooms for revision purposes if they are not in a timetabled exam. Please note the paved area around the back of the sports hall is not available at breaks and lunch times during the exam period – please use the senior yard, all-weather pitch and fields for playing ball games.

This week’s theme was The Catholic Rescue Society and our Enterprise capability was IMPROVING OWN LEARNING. This half-term’s focus for Year 7 is REFLECTION AND EVALUATION.

This week’s Saint of the Week is St Boniface. Born in England around 675, he was a monk and a teacher with a strong calling from God to be a missionary. His first attempt to preach the Gospel in Germany was unplanned and ended in failure. Undeterred, he sought the backing of the Pope and returned to evangelise the Germanic people. He is recognised as an enthusiastic missionary and a Church organiser and reformer whose work shaped the future of Europe. Students prayed for the intercession of St Boniface and considered what they could learn from his example.
