Year 10 pupil gets involved with new build blog

Date published: 05 June 2013

Kenneth Jackson, a Year 10 pupil at Wardle High School, has been perusing his love of journalism over the past term by getting involved with the new build blog. Kenneth has been expanding his experience and skill set to prepare him for a career in journalism.

The new build blog is a video blog featuring an update of the new building progress for Wardle High School. The video normally features Mr Anthony Shaw, Assistant Headteacher talking about the progress that has been made and featuring different elements of the building work. After Kenneth spoke to Mrs Alexis Davies-Kenny, the school’s Careers Learning Mentor, it was decided that Kenneth would benefit from the opportunity to interview the site manager and provide a voice over for the video. The blog is available to view on the school website as part of Wardle TV.

Sam Slater, Kenneth's English teacher, spoke of Kenneth’s creative writing saying, ''Kenny writes with flair and passion and can create alternate realities through his writing. His characters are rounded, robust and, most of all, believable. I have no doubt that I will be reading a fast-paced block buster with dynamic characters written by Kenny, or a well-chosen pseudonym, at some point in the future... and thoroughly enjoying it!”

Wardle High School encourages it's students to advance their skill set as much as possible while completing their studies. Other students have been advancing their skills and experience by having work experience with Carillon, the company building the new school.
