Alkrington Health Action Fun Day

Date published: 03 June 2013

Over one hundred local people enjoyed the activities at Brookside Community Base, in Alkrington, which included health checks by NHS health trainers, healthy eating snacks, hand massages, and a bouncy castle and outdoor games for children. Two skips were also provided to help residents dispose of any bulky waste.

Local children took time out of their half-term break to plant summer bedding plants, and the RBH Junior Wardens planted vegetables in the wooden planter at the Community Base. The Junior Wardens will be tending the vegetables at their weekly sessions until they are able to harvest their healthy snacks.

The RBH Health Action Fun Day was part of the RBH 'Our Place' initiative, which brings together employees and residents to address important issues in our local communities.

Jeff Wood, RBH Housing Officer, said: “The event was resounding success and after an hour of heavy rain, the sun came out! Many tenants & residents attended and more importantly participated in the various activities on offer.”
