Drummer Lee Rigby to be honoured on war memorial
Murdered Middleton soldier, Drummer Lee Rigby is to have this name inscribed on a national memorial honouring Britain’s fallen servicemen and women.
Lee’s name will go on the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire which bears the names of all UK soldiers who have died in conflicts or as a result of terrorist attacks since the end of the Second World War.
Lee (25), from the 2nd battalion, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was killed outside Woolwich barracks in London last Wednesday in a terrorist attack.
Councillor Alan McCarthy, Armed Forces Representative on Rochdale Borough Council, said: “This is a fitting tribute to Lee who put his life on the line every day to serve his country. His bravery will never be forgotten.”
