Reward of £5,000 offered for return of stolen jewellery

Date published: 30 May 2013

A family left heart-broken by the theft of their collection of jewellery is offering a £5,000 reward.

The break-in took place some time between 11am and 3pm on Wednesday 1 May 2013, at the house on Kingsway, Rochdale.

Having forced their way in through a side window, the offenders rummaged through each room, leaving items scattered.

As the police investigation continues, the family is offering a reward of up to £5,000 for anyone whose information helps lead to the safe recovery of any of the jewellery.

A brief description of the offenders is that they were white, in their late teens and wearing jeans. One of them was 5ft 5in tall and another was 5ft 3in tall.

Police Constable Martin Adams said: "This family has been left shattered, not only by the trauma of having someone break into their house, but also by the fact that they have lost jewellery of tremendous value to them.

"The value is sentimental as well as financial; some of this jewellery has been handed down generations, and the family are desperate to have it back.

"The majority was gold Asian jewellery and I would urge anyone who has been offered any jewellery to make contact with the police.

"We are also appealing for witnesses. Given the state they left the house in, the offenders are likely to have been inside for a good few minutes."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4087 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
