College runs ‘Principal’s Question Time’ for students

Date published: 29 May 2013

Students got the chance to meet with senior management at Hopwood Hall College’s annual ‘Learner Voice Conference.’

The conference is designed to allow students to showcase the work they have done throughout the year and share thoughts about education and College issues, as well as listen to speakers from organisations such as Greater Manchester Police and Rochdale Foodbank and interview the college principal in a special ‘Principal’s Question Time.’

This is the fourth year the day-long conference has taken place.

During the event, the College’s student leadership team spoke passionately about the achievements of the students this year.

The event also provided a great opportunity to question Derek O’Toole, Principal, Hopwood Hall College. A special two hour ‘Principal’s Question Time’ session took place, where student representatives were able to put questions directly to Mr O'Toole and the management team. Principal’s Question Time sessions are now a regular feature at the College as part of its student engagement programme.

Student representatives from each course and class were invited to the conference and the event and spoke of the enjoyment they got out of being part of the day and how interesting and informative it was to find out about what is happening at the College and how they can get involved in the future.

In addition, informative talks were given by representatives from the Rochdale Youth Empowerment Team, Greater Manchester Police and Rochdale Foodbank, while Hopwood Hall College Assistant Principal, Lesley Hawkins, gave a talk to students on teaching and learning too.
