Action for Pakistan condemns barbaric murder of Drummer Lee Rigby

Date published: 28 May 2013

Action for Pakistan, International, held an emergency meeting today and strongly condemned Drummer Lee Rigby’s barbaric, horrific murder in Woolwich, London.

A spoeksman said: "Our prayers are for the victim and hearts and thoughts are with the family of late Drummer Lee Rigby."

"Action for Pakistan, International would like to emphasise that Islam is a religion of peace and is very clear about sanctity of life, as the Qur’an says: 'The killing of an innocent person, is like the killing of the whole humanity and saving of a person is like saving the whole humanity.'

"If a Muslim goes against the teachings of Islam, he/she should not be considered as true Muslim.

"It is also not true that Muslims are against members of the British Armed Forces. Muslims have been and still are members of the British Armed Forces and have served it for decades. They have been awarded for their gallantry.

"The attack on Drummer Lee Rigby is attack on our Armed Forces and has no justification and should be strongly condemned by all communities.

"We should work together to deal with extremism and terrorism in our society because these murderers do not belong to any faith, country or a community. They are only criminals and should be dealt with according to the law of the land.

"Under no circumstances should such murderers/criminals be linked with any faith, including Islam, because no religion, community and faith would condone such a heinous crime. It is wrong and is not acceptable in Islam. "The Muslims community is not responsible for the actions of an individual or a group of people. No British person would be held responsible for the murders by Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper or Dr Shipman or other murderers.

"Since it happened, many mosques and Muslims have been attacked in the country. EThe nglish Defence League (EDL) and British National Party (BNP) are taking advantage of this matter and are spreading their hatred and violence. We need to stop it as violence has no place in our society.

"We hope that those responsible for this barbaric and heinous crime will soon be dealt with in accordance with appropriate laws of the land."
